Consider this very rare elegant mid century
fully signed* new
Steuben set of
(6) Old Fashioneds,
vintage designs in
new
condition with
no interior stains or clouding, no chips, no nicks, no cracks, no scratches or display wear, never held ice.
These style icons are the perfect foil for your best single malt Scotch, Irish Whisky, whiskey, Bourbon.  Each will come wrapped in it's fine flannel Steuben bag (with no fading, tears, stains or mildew/nicotine odors) and care booklet. This dimpled design came in six different sizes. These tumblers with a bottle of his favorite potion would be perfect for the special birthday or anniversary gift.  Mandatory for your own barware collection and entertaining, perfect for your after work "Mad Men" set-ups!!
Fashioned by George Thompson, designer of many Steuben mid century favorites, these dimpled Steuben Old Fashioneds are a labor intensive design that was retired for many years. During the glass blowing process a wet cherry wood dowel was plunged into the base of the formed glass and this created the dimpled indentation that is a hallmark of this famous design.  Cherry withstands very high temperatures and many glassworker tools are formed of this wood that is common in central NY. This
fully signed authentic mid century Steuben
set
was entirely hand made, mouth blown and hand polished at the Steuben glassworks in Corning NY.
The buyer will receive six new condition mid century Old Fashioneds like the glass on the right in the first photo.  The second photo shows the range of sizes in this line. Each is approx. 3.5" tall by 3.5" wide and holds 8 oz.  Each is correctly signed "Steuben" with the full name in script on the base bottom. Each glass weighs approx. one pound giving good weight and hand like a bespoke suit. Expect minor variations in size as the glasses are mouth blown. (I also have a dozen new Steuben highballs in the 12 oz. size glass second from the left in photo 2 available separately, contact me via messages if interested.)
Steuben was renown for their rigorous attention to detail and for the high quality of their glass. They stated in their literature that they did not market "seconds". In fact, they noted that such pieces were destroyed in house. Steuben Glass was founded by Frederick Carder in 1903 and was located in the Fingerlakes Region of New York State. By following strict standards for design and manufacture they achieved recognition as the world's premier glassworks. Steuben Glass was frequently the gift of state by US Presidents to foreign dignitaries. Steuben is a luxury brand. Because of these factors, a well maintained handmade Steuben collectible is likely to increase in value over time.
A very fair buy it now price for authentic mouth blown signed mid-century Steuben barware with no hidden reserve. Last Steuben retail of hand made Steuben glasses was 0-0 per glass a number of years ago and there were price increases each year until the glassworks closing in 2011.
